All I said was ummm. I am sure if you'd have called Mike about the converter he could have cleared it up for you. I know some guys have gone fast with c4's, but your 434ci race motor is probably going to kill the new one in short order as well. I had a Art Carr reverse manual valvebody with a transbrake in my C4 that was acting like it sounds like yours is doing. I just went to a reverse manual valvebody with engine braking and its a lot more fun to drive (so far - haven't driven it much yet). PM me if you want details.

Really? Do you know how they figure true parasitic loss? Now there will be HP loss from flywheel to output shaft as is the case with any gear box. But compared to other trannys it might as well be 0. Just a piece to take away from all this, manual valve bodies can do just fine on the street. My dad has a MV TH350 that has been street driven (not daily, but for years it was) for almost 30 years now. It has done just fine so don't shy away from a manual valve body in a street car.

That's is very true. I have done several builds that use a MVB TH350 on blown cars because of the boost issues involved on a modulator. There are some MVB that work better and are safer on the the street than others but all of them can be driven with the proper instructions. Now a TH400 is trickier animal, you almost have to get a MVB that has engine braking built into it. stay away from jerricos unless you like 40 year old technology. you need a mid valley, rankin, tex or something of that nature for street use.
