My 00 7.3 usually gets about 17-18 on highway. Its 2wd CC auto. When pulling my race car and trailer I see about 14.
Love the truck.

I have to agree with the 7.3 guys. I talked to 2 of my really close friends tonight. One has a 02 7.3, and the other has a 06 6.0. The guy with the 7.3 has had no issues, and my other buddy, I know just had his computer go out, and it has less then 100k. He was not under warranty and it was a big money thing.Originally posted by crapstang View Postnot too bad actually.
6.0 ftw, 7.3s are reliable without being touched, but they are dogs.

Tell him to delete it and he will get 19 easy....dpfs are junkOriginally posted by FreightTrain View PostJust get a new Ecoboost. I'm seeing a solid 18mpg with mixed driving and getting on it pretty often. They tow really good also. My brother bought a new dodge diesel and he cusses that thing everyday. He says he has to drive it like a grandma to barely get 15mpg and it's all stock also.

I have a 02 7.3 and it is a great truck. For a crew cab built to pull whatever you put behind it, it does the job just fine. Only mods are the AIS air filter from Ford and a big damn muffler or whatever its called. Truck is plenty fast for what it is. I can not believe people still defend the 6.0. If they are so great then how come you can buy them for next to nothing. One guy I work with bought one brand new and ended up trading it in after a few thousand miles. Block leaked oil, turbo went out, hell he never even got the joy of doing the head bolts. Other guy I work with has had the Excursion with the 6.0 for about 10 years bought brand new and nothing but problems out of it. He has money and has done every fix in the book but still has problems. Talk all the shit you want but when it comes to a diesel I will take reliable over fast any day of the week. These MF's are no joke when it comes to repair bills. Also if you want gas mileage in a 7.3 look at the 95-97's with a five speed. My 95 4x4 crew 1 ton got a little bit better mileage then my 02. Plenty of folks getting high teens low twenties with those trucks. I believe they are lighter then the newer ones.
One of my guys at work has a brand new Dodge and it is hard to believe how quiet that thing is when its running. Like stated above though they have a hoss price and once out of warranty look out.

They say if you sea foam it before it helps. Soaking in carb cleaner helps too.Originally posted by sspstang View Postlol, nice! Yeah you have to spray them let them sit for a few hours, and then crack them over. Spray them again, and let them sit over night. The biggest mistake people make is if they get tight when you are taking them out, the get mean with them, and they break. All you do is tighten it back up and repeat process. Lucky for me, I never had any issues.
Mine came out fine and fast lol.

My side came out fine because I was careful, the other side not so much.. Lol
Teacher was like "it keeps turning but won't come out??" I was like "told ya, that one would break, now you gotta hellacious job to do"
He insisted I was wrong and it was the wrong size socket and the nut was rounded. I lol'd and watched him struggle.
He never said anything after he found he found out I was right all along.. 2 weeks later his ass was fired lol!
