  • New to pi motors

I have a 2001 bullitt that I purchased recently that is lacking on power but seems to run well. However it seems to be drastically down on horsepower, I can't even seem to chirp the tires into second. A buddy of mine has a 2002 maxima se with the six speed manual and he pulled me by about a car length from a 10-60 roll

The engine and transmission have 178k miles
    Mods:
    Bbk headers
    bbk catted h
Flow master mufflers with stock looking exhaust tips
    Huge cold air intake

I think it may have gears the speedometer reads consistently higher the faster you go, reads 10 mph over at 50 so I'm actually going 40

Vehicle had a new clutch and tune up done a few months ago and has no check engine lights

What should I look for or start with? It also takes about 5 seconds of turning the starter of for the car to finally start

Here's a picture of the car
    Thanks

Wow, I wish my speedo would do that. Mine goes backwards.

I bought it from a friend that was going to trade it in. He had owned it since 2003 I believe

          Good looking car.

Change the spark plugs, when they start to foul out those engines run like crap.

i agree with 91coupemike in checking the plugs, then the coil packs, since you said it takes so long to start the car.

how many miles are on it?

Spark plugs, maf, and 02 sensors were replaced in the last 1,000 miles. It was running poorly before changing those out (misfiring and such at idle)

Going to change the fuel filter, if that doesn't help I was thinking I could have a clogged or leaky injector causing the hard starts

I was planning on doing a compression test before the next set of plugs. The car runs and idles well so I can't complain it just feels like there's no torque in the powerband unless you give it 100% throttle

Also peeked under the car and it has a stock catback

You may consider your expectations. If I remember correctly, Bullitt's only had about 10-15 HP over a GT. They weren't fast cars. And if you aren't used to 4.6 motors, they don't make power down low like a 5.0.

But if there is a problem, what's been stated above are places to start looking. I'll add to check your exhaust. My buddy bought a Mach I that was a turd. He pulled the H-pipe off and found that the cat material and broken up in to chunks and blocked the exhaust tubes.
