Did a quick search and came up empty. 87 302, what do I have to do. I don't care to buy a delete kit unless I have to but I'd just like to clean up the pass. side of the engine bay.

Drop your smog pump & run a shorter belt & cut the tubes off your H-Pipe & clamp them with a rubber coverGOD BLESS TEXAS

I bet its a bitch to try and bolt anything back there. So just plug the heads and throw everything else away.Originally posted by Whiteboy View PostCut and flip the plugs on back of the heads. Get a short belt and delete the smog pump!
Hope not cause I'm not running anyOriginally posted by 2011GT View PostIsn't the smog pump needed to cool the catalytic converter?Last edited by A+; 06-20-2012, 10:52 PM......bro....

It is a tight squeeze behind the heads. I used to just put a hose on the smog pump tube that runs down the side with a lg. Bolt to cap it and a hose clamp to finish. Pull the smog pump and throw it in the pile with all the others. I will have the market cornered in used smog pumps when they make a comeback. That and cruise components,

it's a LOT less of a bitch to cut/flip the EGR tube fittings than it is to try to clean/chase the threads that are caked with years of gunk in order to install the thermactor plugs

Opposite, it's there to throw fresh air to cause them to activate quicker. The cooler the converter the less efficient it is. Generally they fire up at about 600* inlet temperature.Originally posted by 2011GT View PostIsn't the smog pump needed to cool the catalytic converter?
OP, just remove the pump and hoses and run a shorter belt. It will throw a CEL but there is a way to trick the ECM by wiring in resistors or something of that nature into the pressure sensor harness. It won't effect drivability whatsoever.
I left the smog tube rubber hose on and put in a brass plug and sealed it with a hose clamp, no problems in 2 years.
