  • Brake gurus inside

    91 fox

car has no fluid to rear brakes.
i bled the master and tried pressure bleeding the rear brakes, right rear first then left cant get any solid fluid to come out, all i get is a lot of air and fluid mixed.

the car has stock master cylinder with summit adapter plate to make them "manual".

    any ideas??

    front brakes work just fine.

Sounds like a bad master cylinder not pushing fluid. Try cracking the rear brake line off the master and see if it bleeds or just blows air.

Is it moving the rear fluid? Test it first.

yes it moves fluid, very little and mostly to the right rear.

i have taken a blow gun and blew it at stock proportioning valve and fuid came out of both sides at rear.

Sounds like you kinda answered your own question.

If you aren't pushing enough fluid to the rear to get to both sides, and the line (there's only one to the rears)is clear, then is the master.

Master cylinder works with two plungers. Typically, the front gets fed first. When the master fails, the rears typically show the failure since the rear has only one plunger. It's a safety mechanism to help make sure you have brakes since the fronts do most of the work. Your master cylinder failed, hence the weak rears.

the pushrod that goes through the firewall isn't adjusted correctly and won't come back far enough to open the transfer hole in the m/c.

Check the rear brake lines. It's possible that after 20 years one has rotted out
