  • ever have this happen?

i was driving home and all of a sudden the car dies. once i coast over to a parking lot and start looking it over, it has no spark. for times sake i go ahead and buy a coil and control module before the parts store closes. put them both on and still no spark. pull the cap off and bump and the rotor isnt spinning. here was the weird part. when i pulled the dizzy out, the press in pin that holds the gear on was broke and the gear was free spinning. has anyone ever seen this? the dizzy has 2000 miles.

Sounds like you got jipped and have too much powa!

My worry would be the loose pin in the engine.

Check and make sure oil pump did not lock up and cause the pin to shear

Also, I'm trying to determine where to set timing at since my car was tuned

The pin isn't going to do jack. It'll just fall into the oil pan and join the metal shaves clinging to the magnet specifically for that purpose.

youd be suprised at were metal can get in a motor that magnet will only pull it to it from a certain distance

EDIT actually almost all the engines that ive disassembled havent had a magnet in the oilpan

I pulled the pieces of the pin out since the were still in the pin holes.

About what should base timing be for a heads cam intake 351?

                              hi volume pump?
