lol, I'm capable of good wiring... I've put together some nice harnesses working for Siemens, but on my own vehicles? yeah, it usually ends up with high end waterproof butt splice connectors and I feel all "fuck yeah" about that

Im the same way. If I own it Ill start with good intentions and say screw it later. But If im doing it on someone elses car or at work I go all out and will make 7 trips to the parts store/department to make it right.

I usually solder/heatshrink anything I can when time allows. So much so that I've had buddies give me shit for grabbing a but connector and some tape to do a quick patch job for them. It's comical when they throw out "bet you wouldn't do that if it was your shit" or "I see, I get cheap fix but so-in-so gets it done nice and right". All in good fun. I take pride in my wiring work most of the time.

on the sub we had to safety wire EVERYTHING, so i everyone got pretty good at it. i could make some pretty ones if i rally tried. some guys would make some masterpieces though. wish i could have taken pics :/

Thanks guys. That end result surely did not come overnight nor cheaply. I bet I have over a year in it working off and on and well over a grand in wire, loom, Duetsch connectors, tools, etc. Hell I must have drew it out a dozen times with factory wirring diagrams, Excell spreadsheets and power point even still I got several stuff wrong.

Good sources for materials makes all the difference in the world. Those silver barrel bulkhead connectors are the bee's knees and not nearly as expensive as you would think for the quality and functionability they provide. Male/female for one may have cost me $60. The trick is in the loaner tool Duetsch provided me also.

I have gotten tons better at soldering. Hell just this June the day AFTER the Power Tour a dead battery and smoked alternator was caused by the smallest of solder poking through heat shrink and shorting.

That is one sexy engine bay. If I wasn't worried about my wife being comfortable I would have ditched the A/C & heat and gone to an A/W behind the dash. Even power steering would be gone.
