  • 92 Coupe turns over, won't start

On my way home from work it sputtered and died. It will turnover but not start. Fuel pump turns on fuel pressure to the schrader, replaced fuel filter. No check engine light or code. If the TFI module is bad wouldn't it genereate a engine code?

Check the obvious before performing surgery. Have you checked to make sure your battery is good?

Not true at all. It might have enough juice to make it turn over, but not enough to fire. I've seen it happen before on many makes and models.

Marty, it's either the TFI or the pickup module.

The pickup is responsible for sending the pulses to fire the injectors and the signal back to the ECU to tell it to fire the coil. If it's not working, it's not going to prime the fuel pump - since you said it's priming, it's likely not the culprit.

Next, take the TFI off the car and to the store - they can test it, It's 99% probability of bieng the problem. Call me if you need some help.

It's not the battery and I swapped out the coil.

                    Have you tried shooting it?

It's a total loss. You can deliver it to McKinney and I'll begrudgingly take it off your hands for no charge.

Tfi module.. Some say they are so common on going out, to keep an extra in the glovebox.

Another for the TFI or the pickup coil.
