  • rear end issue brake issue!

My rear driver side is wearing the outside pad fast.. The inside has hardly any wear. It sounds like its dragging squeaks all the time.. I have a new rotor, new caliper(swaped it out twice). New hardware clips and slider pins greased.. Also the it wears the top of the pad alot faster..
What could be causing this.. I don't feel much play on the axle but have no way of measuring it..

This is after two months new pads.. The inside still looks brand new..

I'll take it back apart and grease it again. Maybe ill see if there is something in the hole that is making it stick..

          Slides or a brake hose.

Something is causing binding or your caliper is somehow way out of alignment (not sure how it could be that far off and not see it). That's the only way it will wear the pads like that. I'd agree with greenbullitt in a slider but wouldn't seem likely if they've been serviced recently.

I was thinking of getting a new hose incase it collapse on the inside and holds pressure. Just a guess..

Like the bracket being bent or something?

Back at this again. I lost the pic from my photobucket account. But my outside rear break pad wears out in no time. When it wears, it wears at an angle the top part of it wears faster. I replaced the hose, caliper twice, new slider pins and bolts.. thinking about replacing the caliper bracket. Also thinking the axle might be bent. I don't see any irregular tire wear tho. I can hear it squeaking when I'm driving. The car hadn't been driven much but last week I drove it out of town 600 miles round trip. By the time I made it home the outside pad was gone and ate up the rotor. The inside pad was still brand new. The pads were replaced right before the trip..

                      Is the mounting flange true?

I accidentally deleted them.. don't have the pad no more. The inside is still brand new. The outside had about a 1/4 of material left on the bottom nothing on top. It was at an angle.

Not sure. Ill remove it all if I have too. Guess I'll have to take it to a machine shop. .

I did a rear brake job on a 2003 mustang once where someone had not line the pins of the pad to the piston. It dragged bad. replaced the pads and car came back less than a thousand miles with the outside pad wore at a bad angle. It seems that the bracket got bent or tweaked when someone else had not put the pad in right. Replaced bracket and pads people still driving for a couple years now no problems. I would replace the bracket.

I have a spare bracket so I'll try that before completely disassembling the rear end
