  • Compression check on a cold motor

How much difference will it make in the readings if it's a cold compression check?

Looking at an 800hr boat motor, everything else on the boat looks mint (not restored, just extremely well taken care of).
Ronald Reagan:"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Homer: "Bart...there's 2 things I know about women. Never give them nicknames like "jumbo" or "boxcar" and always keep receipts...it makes you look like a business man."

my suzuki g10 will show ~20lbs difference between being cold and warm.

i have heard of people using a spray bottle with some oil in it to spray in the plug holes to simulate an oiled engine for compression tests. also dont forget to do the test WOT or i believe you'll get low numbers.

Spraying oil in the holes will give you a false reading.
