  • Diesel guru's with DPF deletes...?

I'm acquiring parts to do the NoX and DPF deletes on my 08 and was wondering if the engine gets louder in the cab....I don't necessarily want it to. I like how much quieter the 6.7 is than my old 5.9 but this emissions crap has to go. I just don't want to have a loud ass diesel again...

    Thanks!

      You are getting old.

I'm about to put a resonator on mine too.

Do you have a tuner that is capable of the new changes?

Not yet. Looking at the smarty S-67 and the junior. Don't really know if I NEED the S67 for the additional $185 because I just plan to put a 60 or 90hp tune on it and leave it. The whole idea here is to spend as little money as possible to offset the fuel savings over time. I may do the throttle blade delete as well just to be safe but want to be able to throw it back to stock and sell it if I have too. It's only got 68k miles on it but it's out of factory warranty so no worries there.

I ordered the delete pipe and it should be here in a few days. I have time to figure out which tuner I want. I like the H&S because it has the gauges too, but don't feel like spending the money. I might even do the "delete cables" and leave the tune stock except I want the torque management stuff removed.

Yeah, I'm old and cheap alright. I'm still funding my snowballing coyote swap so this is mostly to save money on fuel over time....at least that is what I keep telling myself! LOL!!

The H&S no longer makes a delete capable tuner, so you have to buy an older race tuner. I just sold mine for 1300

Ended up picking up an SCT X3 and ordering some custom tunes.

I always heard if you start deleting emission items and keep a stock tune it will run like crap? Maybe the others can chime in.

If I were you i'd pick up a used SCT, get some custom tunes, and maybe grab an Edge or something to monitor everything.

edit again: My mistake, SCT does not appear to make any products for 08+ dodge :/

I was out to lunch on the smarty, until I realized the truck was severely fuel starved.

yeah, I changed the fuel filter tonight....was a cummins filter which tells me either the previous owner was really anal about using OE parts or it wasn't ever changed. The fact the truck runs a little better tells me it was original. oh well...it runs better!

I'm going to look for the smarty jr. and download a tune and keep on moving. Truck runs good now but it doesn't run like my 04.5 on the Edge Juice. If it runs somewhere in between now and what that was like, I'll be happy.

Might be because use of non mopar/cummins filters will void the warrenty.

I've seen a a 6.7 that would only go 40 mph due to fuel starvation. Owner said it just started, was running fine. I asked about fuel filter. Hadn't been changed since new 65k miles.

Friend from high school went almost 30k miles in a well abused Tacoma v6 he got new on original oil.

If you were able to put a new factory filter in it and didn't have to buy a filter housing, it's been replaced before

Do they supply the filters free of charge?
