"Cold Air vs. Short Ram"

Easy, grab a scanner that displays engine data and watch IAT (intake air temp). I have one, i'm sure several other people here do too. Run it with the factory air tube pulled off the box at idle on a hot day with the hood closed and see what the IAT is, then put on a cold air or route the tube to outside (of the engine bay) air and check the IAT again. I'm willing to bet it's a good 50* or more change. The engine bay gets heat soaked by a 200* engine, radiator, and fans pulling hot air into the engine bay VS outside air temp. On a summer day, that engine bay is hotter than hell. I used to be a tech, my arms have several large white scars from burns I got working on cars that came directly off the street and into the shop in the summer time.sigpic
