With VVT and all the problems Ford has with the 5.4 phasers I'd be scared of stretching it that far out. Now if every drive you make is 20+ miles and the engine warms up completely and is flogged regularly then yeah it's probably okay. It you putt around town mostly though I'd be worried about carbon and sludge buildup.

Pretty sure that they cant deny a warranty claim if you are using oil and filters that meet or exceed the govt standards of what came in the car. but im no expert. I have heard that the motorcraft stuff is on point and used it pretty exclusively on all of the mustangs ive had without issue.

Oh yeah, we would have had a sit-down to discuss Magnuson-Moss, but it never came to that.

When did you own a 3V?

Most of my trips are short, but I don't putt. LOL

Ohh, I thought I missed a 3V Mustang that you owned. I didn't know those had 3V's either btw.

I get freaked out about long service intervals too.

The 6.4 calls for 10k light duty, 5k severe duty. My trucks see ideal conditions. Cruising at highway speeds with some acceleration bursts here and there. But I still shoot for 5k and rarely let it get past 7500

Maybe I'm just stuck in the old days but I change my cars at 3k regardless of the type of oil. But I run Mobil 1 in the truck and mustang, wix filter on the truck and motorcraft on the mustang. The wife's car gets motorcraft oil and filter at 3k.

If I had a car with that long of a interval, I would change oil at 10k, but filter only at 5k and add whats lost. Synthetics are pretty good.

I have cut open just about every filter I take off my cars. Never hurts to look. Best filter was when I spun two rod bearings on race car... YIKES.
                            Some cars and a bike...

Some say... they have been raced, some a lot

Yup! A filter will clean it right up and keep it going for a long interval.

I go 10k minimum, but I've also blown my shit up twice, so it'd be better to just ignore me.
