question about skinnies

Not bad but they don't stop or turn well so it is not very safe in an emergency stop or maneuver situation . As long as you don't forget that while you drive they aren't that bad unless it rains .

the tires arent rated for the weight of the car, and the handling and braking would suffer, but I've done it.

Its more fun to be able to turn sharply without slowing to a crawl for me.

I've been doing it for a long time. Front runners rock in the rain (you don't hydroplane!) My daily driver runs on 165/80R15's and 275/60/15's. Only thing that sucks is you can't rotate.

turning and breaking as mentioned, and I've heard people hitting big pot holes and bending those light wheels.

As long as you adjust your driving style you will be fine. No quick corners and watch for pot holes. I have driven for years and years on skinnies with no problems.

I did it for a long time with no issues, but realize that if you get in some sort of accident, you could be held liable for inadequately rated tires. It's a long shot, but in today's litigious society, it could happen. It's certainly happened in the heavy duty truck world

I never had any problems. Always heard horror stories but i think most of them entailed people doing things that i normally wouldn't do in any car....

I did it for years as well. One other thing to watch, other than those mentioned, is the tendency on grooved/scraped highways to follow the grain. It can be pretty awful.

I did it for years with no issues, my girlfriend drove her 5L fox with skinnies for atleast 5 years in rain/snow with no issues. I mainly did it cause those tires used to be cheap....
