Anyone recommend a place to rebuild or a place to buy a stronger trans for a auto Cummins that isn't stupid expensive? Mines about ready to let loose.

How much are you towing and what's wrong with yours? 48RE's have adjustable bands, if it's a delayed engagement into reverse or low that might be all you need.
Obviously Goerend is about the best out there but if you aren't making 1000hp it's probably a waste. http://www.goerend.com
If stock has lasted for 7 years you probably don't need much more than a better converter and valve body.

Never tow more than 10k. Has 2boxes, 5in turbo back and Volant CAI. It is now doing 3 diff things randomly. It either A works with no lock up, B: wont shift out of 1st till you let off gas or manually shift then has no Od or C: Goes from 1st to 3rd then Od . No delayed engagement except switching gears.Originally posted by BP View PostHow much are you towing and what's wrong with yours? 48RE's have adjustable bands, if it's a delayed engagement into reverse or low that might be all you need.

Thanks Paul and DJ. Mike gave me some things to check and adj. and or fix. Well a hour worth of time and a couple hundred worth of parts and I had it up and going and shifting good as new.
Super big thanks to Mike McGee. He took time out of his day to talk to me and give me pointers and pretty exact instructions on what to do. This kind of person and service is next to non existent these days. Its nice to know we have someone like that around.

He did that for me when I took him my truck and a blank check a few years ago. I was expecting a rebuild, and got out with just a sonsor and adjustment. Few guys around that will do that.Originally posted by G.. View PostThanks Paul and DJ. Mike gave me some things to check and adj. and or fix.
