As stated, it's the rumble strip effect. Flush and fill with Mercon V is the most common fix.

If it happens when the torque converter clutch is coming on its time for a mercon V fluid and filter change. Sometimes the converter can be bad enough that it needs to be replaced but generally this cures it if it has not been happening too long.

That sounds more like rear axle, I would check your u-joints, diff gears/ring/pinion. If anything feels funny pop the cover.

Great information, my wifes Fusion feels like rumble strips, to me it feels like a light missing under load while cold and under acceleration. Not bad and she probably doesn't notice it, but I bet it needs a filter and fluid change. Thx...

Not a common issue on that trans that I know of, but if it is due, do the maintenance. What year is it? There was an issue where the coils burn up and if they are the PCM needs to be replaced too. Happened to a relative's, that shit was high dollar at the dealer. (If i still worked at one I'd have repaired it)

As usual this is just a service bulletin and not an extension a warranty or a recall.

Id pop the coils out and check the boots for any cracking/dry spots as they allow moisture in around the plug causing a miss when cold. As the engine warms the moisture evaporates and the miss goes away. The shorting from the moisture will take out coils.
