That quote is ridiculous. It's a super easy install.

That's not always the case. I had a set of Hotchkis with Poly bushings. Never heard a peep out of them or had any binding issues. Thoroughly greasing the bushings and the mounting surface before installation, makes all the difference. I used Prothane SuperGrease from Jegs.

Just got home and looked at the repair estimate. You are right there is more going on, but not much more. There was an extra $407 on there for I'm not really sure. Remember I brought the car in to the dealership with the complaint about the left rear lower control arm squeaking.

    Here is the total quote:
They want to "replace the rear left control arm" at 2.0 hours for $628
The right rear at 2.0 hours for $518

They also want to replace the "Both front stabilizer and links + bar bushings" at 2.5 hours for $407
In this case I'm not even sure what this part of the estimate wanting to fix, Remember I brought it in to the dealership because the left rear control arm was squeaking.

Replace both lower control arms at 4.0 hours for $1120

Total is $2673 but he adds it up to $2697.10

So even if you remove the extra $407 for the "Front stabilizers and links+Bar bushings" that's still a quote for $2266 to replace the front and rear lower control arms.

Thanks, but I think I'm going to go aftermarket. Something that has a greese nipple on it.

Something like these, unless some other recommendations come in.

As for the front. I'm not even noticing anything wrong with the front of the car, no popping, noises or anything. So I'm not sure what I will do there. I don't have a lot of confidence that they weren't just trying to run up the cost on me.

Service depts are usually way expensive . They like to ripped our heads off too. A jack and some friends will get the job done.

I don't see that car needing all those control arms/bushings at 68K.

Kevin Moody, I dropped my car off with him Saturday Morning at 7am. He agreed to call me with a quote. I called at noon, left a message for him. I called back at 2pm because I still hadn't heard from him. That's when he gave me the $2600 quote. I told him to not do any of that work that I was going to shop it around, and I would be there to pick it up soon.

When I arrived 15 or 20 minutes later, the car wasn't even ready to go(The cashier didn't have the ticket, or keys).
