Ya. The gaskets go as follows:
Intake, gasket, egr spacer, gasket, heat shield, gasket, 1/4in spacer wood/cardboard gasket thing, carb.

      ok, I'm in Midlothian

just for shits and grins take a old armorall or 409 type spray bottle and spray water around the carb base and see if any of that is leaking air. it will make the motor stumble if you find a vac leak.

Ok update. I have installed a edelbrock performer 302 intake and also replaced the distributor. Still has that hiccup problem when u gas it around 15-2000rpm. Very odd. I also replaced the power valve with a 6.5 instead of 7.5.

vaccum secondary issue? Is check valve to brake booster good?

did you set the timing with the vac advance disconnected? and, it it on the timed vac port or the manifold vac. port

The timing is set without and it is to the timed port on the metering block . I am thinking it is not carb related . We are going to try my 650 DP on his next day off just to be sure . I know it works flawless .

for most non-emissions testing cars like his, I always use manifold vac. port. Under a load, it reduces the timing, the way you have it, it advances under load.
