I have a fully forged 4v Teksid block that I'm looking to get 750hp/800hp with a single Borg Warner turbo. My question is should I keep the stock 98 cobra intake manifold or go with a high dollar sheet metal intake (MMR). what is everyones thoughts/ experiences? Pics help

96-98 are B head motors, they have 2 intake ports per cylinder. One is round, the other square. There aren't many aftermarket options available and they are generally expensive. Common mods for those are having the factory runners in the intake removed, shortened, and put back it as well as doing IMRC deletes. The 99 up 4 valves are referred to as C heads, they have one large oval port feeding both intake valves. Sullivan makes a single plane short runner intake that accepts various different inlet designs, and they do the short runner mod to them as well.

The b heads tend to respond very well to boost as well. The only downside is they don't seem to make as much torque.Originally posted by shumpertdavid View Post96-98 are B head motors, they have 2 intake ports per cylinder. One is round, the other square. Generally it comes at a loss in lower end torque which the 4v's tend to lack anyway. I run it in stock intake form and shee how the numbers fall, then decide if it needs intake modding or swapping down the road. The IMRC deletes generally take a little low end torque away as well from what I remember, but eliminate the possibility of them sticking and causing issue down the road.
We are putting together a vortech setup in a buddies 97 Cobra. It will likely get deletes and run the intake as stock, might add a plenum spacer but that's about it.

I read about that and some using epoxy or small freeze plugs, I don't recall any problems as a result. However, for a couple hunded bucks for a machined pair I figured the piece of mind was worth it. If a piece if hard fled or a freeze plug worked loose it wouldn't be good going through a motor.Originally posted by 91CoupeMike View PostRemove and jb weld and smooth the holes.
