  • tubes in slicks

You wouldn't think it would be complicated at all. 28x 10.5x 15 et drags on
10" welds, simple huh. I've had this combo for like 15+ years, I've changed my own slicks on this setup about 9 times, wore out a pair of weld wheels so this is the second set. When I went to 10" slicks the M/T instructions listed a 11" tube so I bought the rubber tubes and always used talcum powder inside the tires, never had a flat and the pressure never changed.

The problem I had was having them balanced. sometimes it took over 12 ounces to have each tire balanced. M/T says the paint dots on the tire mean nothing. Some of the tire makers paint dots mean it's the lightest part of the tire and the dot goes opposite the valve stem. Not M/T. So this time I noticed the tube had places where you could see it was folded inside the tire when it was inflated. I had gone to great pains to fill and refill the tires after mounted to let the tubes relax inside the tire and tried to make sure the tubes were not folded. On this pair of 3055 M/T slicks it called for a 9.50 size tube so back to Pepboys I went after calling first and finding out they had 7 - 9.50 tubes in stock. Go online and print a coupon, it'll save you 20 bucks on a 100$ purchase. I couldn't get them to price match Summit but the 20$ off made it within a couple of dollars of Summits price.

With the smaller tubes and no folds it only took a couple of ounces per tire to balance.

Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.

I balance anything with tubes in it.
