  • Good deal on 351w?

I know this isn't the tech forum, but I need an answer pretty quick here.

Found a 351w roller block that was pulled from a running fox because it was smoking.

Comes with the shortblock, flywheel, waterpump, unknown cam, stock pistons, rods, and crank. Oil pump, shaft, and pickup. Hamburger fox oil pan, accessory brackets, and a new DSS 351w rebuild kit with +.030 flat top pistons w/moly rings, and standard main and rod bearings.

    He's asking $800 for it.

Now I don't need those pistons, so I'll have to sell them and getting some dished pistons...

So I guess I have a 2 part question... is that a decent deal? He said the only thing he can find wrong with it is there is a scratch in one of the cylinders that you can feel with your fingernail...

And how much should I expect to spend to have a machine shop clean up, and prep the short block as well as punching it out .030?

I would jump all over that. If you don't take it, I'd like to get it. :0

Why don't you offer a little less while figuring to pick it up for $800.

Standing there with 5 Ben Franklin's just might get it loaded into your vehicle.

Sounds like a pretty good deal as long as the block can be bored ok. I'm in the middle of replacing my 306 with a 408 shortblock and there are quite a few parts that add up with a 351W swap it sounds like you are getting with this setup (brackets etc..)

$650 would be "full boat retail" .

Saving $50, and you don't have to wait for shipping.

if you think you're going to bore it to .060 and race it, you might check into roller blocks at .060 and see how they hold up.
