    Can I hook this light bar up directly to 12V switch?

    Or should I run it through a relay?

    It's for my bay boat. In the spring/summer, I prefer the leave the dock when it's still dark out, and while my GPS shows me the lines I've run before, I would like a little light to get me there (wherever I'm fishing that morning or if I'm headed somewhere I haven't previously been) before dawn.

    I have a relay kit that I purchased for these, just wondering if it's needed. Power will be coming from a power strip, I can add inline fuses.

    I would assume if the switch is rated for 10A or more then you don't need a relay, other wise you would need one.

      My thoughts are better safe than sorry, relays are cheap insurance.

        cheaper light bars like that down draw as much power as they claim. But even if it did it would be right at a 10amp draw. Can you use a 15amp switch? I would run it as is if it were mine.
