  • Holley Blue squirting fuel

I've been smelling gas for the past few days so I figured I would check for leaks in the lines. I cycled the pump for a few seconds and this is what I saw right off the bat.

Any thoughts? I haven't pulled it off the frame but from what I can see with a small mirror, it looks like a threaded hole. I don't remember seeing a plug back there when I installed over a year ago. The fuel smell started a few days ago. Anyone have one laying around for reference?

A piece of duct tape will fix that in a jiffy.

Did you use real Duck brand or that shitty Harbor Frieght knock-off variety?

They used to sell rebuild kits for the Holley 12-802 Blue Pump. For the money, I would go to a better one like the Aeromotive 11203 vs putting another Blue Pump in there.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Yeah, I'm not really sure if I want to replace it with another holley. I wasn't fond of it from day one. The aeromotive is a little out of my price range right now. I've heard good things of the Carter pumps. They seem to be more entry level pumps. Anyone have any personal experience with them?

AAAHHH The insurance company will pay top dollar..

Put another Holly on. One of those cost me 1 hot rod.

The Carter pumps are a better pump then the Holley. The bracket for them is tough to mount sometimes because it is pretty big. You can find them cheap because many stores carry them and repackage them in their house brand as a universal low pressure pump. My personal favorite is the black one with 3/8s NPT fittings and I believe with a 12-15 PSI deadhead rating. I use a return style fuel pressure regulator with them on the rare occasions I am wrenching on a car with a carb on it.

Holley fuel pumps are pure junk. Sorry.

Replace it with anything else, you will have an instant improvement in reliability, noise, and atomized fuel spraying where it shouldn't.
