I have a 93 Cobra and when I spin the rear wheels it makes a noise that sounds like metal on metal. I suspect the wheel or axle bearings need to be replaced. Do I need to pull the axels to replace the inner and outer bearings?

pull the axle and replace the axle bearings (they are at the end of the tube) If the axle is pitted badly, it may need an axle tooOriginally posted by mustvid View PostI have a 93 Cobra and when I spin the rear wheels it makes a noise that sounds like metal on metal. I thought I had to pull the axels. Well, I've never pulled the axel before and I'm not big on doing something I have not seen done before. To pull the axels means draining the pumkin and messing with the c clips too? Do I need special tools to pull the axels like a slide hammer?
How much do you think it would cost to have this done?

yes, drain the center, pull the pin and youll have to rent a slide hammer to do it...Originally posted by mustvid View PostI thought I had to pull the axels. 5/16 on the pin. Ive had one break smooth on me once and that was a bitch.
The slide hammer with the puller is the way to go.
Make sure when replacing the seals you use something nice and flat to knock it in. I had either a socket that side or a nice flat 2x4.
