Trunk?

For all you coupe owners, how did you fabricate a new floor in the trunk after cutting out the spare tire well?

They took it to a chassis shop and had it fabricated and welded in.

Are you going to install a fuel cell ?
Trunk mounted battery ?
Its a lot of work to make it look right and not rattle or leak.

In my fairmont which is similar i cut the tire hull completely out went to the junk yard and found a flat hood, cut it to fit put window weld (silicone) completely around the hole and riveted it in and mounted my battery tray and fuel cell to it ,Looks and works great.

Lighten up. It's easy to slip on the rules and there's no reason to get defensive about it when you do. Just take it in stride. FYI, all members are potential advertisers unless they are a paid advertiser and we all play by the same rules.

Please keep in mind, this is for the general hobbyist, garage gearhead, hotrodder and sparetime wrencher/mechanic - NOT businesses.

If your intent appears to be advertising, or soliciting work don't take it the wrong way if it gets locked - take your conversations regarding pricing to PM's. We all KNOW what advertising is, and how it keeps the site afloat.

Business names as user names are not allowed, if your user name is your business name and you are not a paid advertiser, please change it.

PLEASE abide by those simple guidelines so we can continue to enjoy bieng greasy, dirty, nasty hands having gearheads WITH a garage forum.

No, not everyone does this - there are plenty of people who can DIY. Taking it to a "chassis shop" is not necessary.

Potential advertisers KNOW what they are doing, read the rules and abide by them. You know exactly what you are doing when you list pricing, you are soliciting for work. Last warning.

Helping people with their projects does not include taking some half hearted jab at answering their post - see the 2nd post in this thread. Again, discussing pricing out in the open forums is a form of advertising. Quit beating around the bush and step up to be an advertiser, or quit trying to bend the rules - it's pretty simple.

OP, what you are asking to do is VERY easy. The spare tire well comes out with minimal effort with a simple drill motor and a unibit. All you have to do is drill through the spot welds and eventuall it will come out easily. The seam sealer is a pita some times.

Also, Sheet steel and aluminum are cheap when purchased at a metal yard (NOT home depot, lowes etc). I'd venture a guess that it's inline with buying a salvaged hood, maybe cheaper.

The sheet aluminum, steel or whatever along with some 1" square tubing - add a little bit of creativity and you'll be done in a day or less.
