  • Approximate RWHP of streetable 351...

N/A? Not sure what heads or cam, but I'm sure that would have a significant impact. Let's say something like a Vic Jr head, Systemax II intake and some mild cam. What kinda range of rwhp would it be capable of?? NA numbers only please....

I'd prefer to do a stroker, but I'm curious what I could expect from just a rebored stocker for now....

Are there not any better head options for a sbf than e-bock vic jrs? I know you're speaking in the hypothetical but the jrs seem popular with the sbf (and sbc for that matter) crowd but for anyone else with a motor that's not one of those two the e-bocks are usually lower on the pecking order of head choices for all out street/strip motors.

I'm fairly open on which heads to use... AFR 205's? AFR 225's? Let's hear some combo's and dyno numbers....

Systemax won't work with a 351 unless you want to use a stock truck lower.

Whats your goal? I mean you can make 500+rwhp streetable if you have a good tuner. You will have a race car idle, but it will be streetable. Do you want a smooth idle? What powerband?

close, but not quite. systemax only works with a truck 302 lower, 351 truck lower had oval runners like a 50 HO.

You could get a systemax to work if you wanted to make spacers but that is about the only way. I'd use the TFS R intake before I did that though.

Anyway, you can make 350 rwhp with the shittiest heads in the world, reasonable cam and reasonable compression.

Doug I still have that Kotzur built 351 shortblock, it hasn't gone anywhere. I also have a TFS R upper that I would sell for cheap, although it looks like shit.

Ahhh yes, it's the bolt pattern that's the same but not the ports shape. The ovals could be opened up by hand or cnc to match the Systemax but it woudn't be worth the time or money. The 351 GT40 Lower flows 280 cfm stock. It makes for an unbeatable intake 5000 rpm and below.

Now I'm gonna let you finish, but look into a LSx swap if you're seriously thinking of the n/a/EFI/smallblock V8 route. By the time you add it all up you'll be out the same money(maybe less), have modern EFI that will drive outstanding, make a good honest 400+ rwhp at a reasonable rpm, us mostly OEM parts, save a ton of weight, and fit better than a 351 under the hood. Just dropping a turd into the punchbowl.
