Well after 18 years and 69,000 (most of them at the drag strip) My factory T-5 took a shit last weekend as soon as I hit 3rd. gear. What kind of upgrades can be done to it? I have a buddy with a Z-spec laying around as an option.

A Z spec should handle it as long as you dont plan on beating the hell out of it. Are you looking to do the work yourself or someone to build you a unit?

I hope that the Z spec can last just as long as the factory WC did because the car only see's track time and I do beat the hell out of it. BTW I do not power-shift the car, but I used to when it was new.Originally posted by thesource View PostA Z spec should handle it as long as you dont plan on beating the hell out of it. I could build you a T5 you wouldn't break but its not cheap.Originally posted by jetboat View PostI hope that the Z spec can last just as long as the factory WC did because the car only see's track time and I do beat the hell out of it. A true Z spec T5 will have hardened gears, steel front bearing retainer, and a tapered output shaft bearing. It has a torque rating of 330ft/lbs. and will hold up to approximately 450hp with a soft locking clutch. That is going to be the most logical route, IMO, unless you want to spend some serious coin.Originally posted by jetboat View PostI hope that the Z spec can last just as long as the factory WC did because the car only see's track time and I do beat the hell out of it.
