  • Super Chevy show this weekend

    Anyone else going?

ENNIS, Texas (March 15, 2011) – Get out the wax. Find your coolest sunglasses. It’s time to cruise.
For the second consecutive year, Texas Motorplex is hosting a cruise that will lead directly to the annual Super Chevy Show.
Last year more than 45 participants lined up and cruised from Arlington to an exclusive entrance at Texas Motorplex, kicking off the Super Chevy Show in style.
This year, however, Texas Motorplex is working with regional car clubs to increase the number of participants to add even more flare to the nation’s coolest brand loyalty event.
“Nothing looks better than a line of classic to modern Chevy vehicles,” Texas Motorplex General Manager Gabrielle Stevenson said. “We were lucky enough to have Super Chevy Magazine covering the inaugural event and they got a ton of photos, cool videos and even a few stories from the cruise. It was thrilling to see the beautiful cars line up and create a jaw-dropping show on our Texas highways.”
Cruisers will meet at the Soulman’s Bar-B-Que location in Rockwall (691 East Interstate 30, Rockwall, TX). Participants can pick up registration packets and spectators can purchase tickets on site. The cruise will depart Soulman’s at 8 a.m. and will head directly to Texas Motorplex where an exclusive entrance gate and priority parking will await them as the Super Chevy celebration officially begins.
The Super Chevy Show at Texas Motorplex will offer a car show, drag racing, an autocross course, a swap meet, live music, kid’s activity area, Soulman’s traditional Texas BBQ favorites and more.
It all starts with a cruise to celebrate one of the most beloved car brands in American history – and Texas bragging rights are on the line.
Royal Purple Raceway (formerly Houston Raceway Park) put together a cruise for its 2010 Super Chevy Show event with nearly 200 cars cruising the Houston highways. Now it’s time to show Houston why they call it “The Big D” here in the DFW area.
“We had some of the best car clubs in the area take part in the 2010 cruise, but once we heard about Houston’s success, we knew we needed to kick this event up a notch and invite everyone to cruise with us this year,” said Ashley Kellough, Texas Motorplex competition director. “We’re inviting Super Chevy Show Magazine to come back and capture what will certainly be an extraordinary event.”
The cruise takes place Saturday morning, but the track will be hosting a test-and-tune Fast Friday event on June 3. The ever-popular Super Chevy Show and its car show, show-n-shine, swap meet and drag racing will continue June 4-5.
The drag racing portion of the event will feature bracket racing, including the new 5th Gen Shootout open to all fifth generation Camaros. The Texas Blown Alcohol Fuel Association will cap off the racing with the nostalgia dragsters.
