Look I can see you're missing something, and you seem to be a likeable enough guy, so I'm going to break it down like a lawnchair for you. Let me summarize. I said I race a car, I said I got pulled off the line but reeled him in. I theorized it was because he had bigger tires. Then some people said some things and someone said "tires don't matter because my friend has huge tires and he can obliterate them". At this point I felt obliged to explain some things which led to a digression into outlaw cars. I'm not here to debate the vagaries of outlaw car systems and how they all work together to make the car go fast. I'm explaining, and I might add for the last time tonight, that GRIP is manifested through the tires (because they're the only parts of the car that contact the ground) and that more grip allows you to to accelerate quicker. More grip can be achieved in only 2 ways. Pay attention, I know I'm kinda coming off like a smartass, but I hate explaining stuff twice. To increase your tires frictional coefficient with the asphalt, you have to increase the contact patch surface area OR change the chemical composition of the tires and therbye increase the frictional coefficient of the rubber. You can increase contact patch surface area with an improved suspension, but changing the gearing of a car does in no way change the grip. It only manipulates the engines torque multiplication.

So that's why my Power wheels always blew the tires off the line!?
You're right though, overall gearing doesn't effect traction, it aids in how well the car grips through the torque. Too much gear it'll blow the tires, too little it'll turd out.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

German engineering has always been one of the best. The BMW m5 has a f1 inspired v10 making 500hp on factory tune. They can almost go 200mph.
You're trying to say porches are one of the best performing cars in the world? LOL
Mercedes are spot on with class and all out performance. They make a car with over 800lbft of torque. Haha ya I'm an idiot.
SLR, AMG, M3 GTR and porche GT3 turbo. Whatcha got?
The only other car manufactor that has the ability to surpass them is Ferarri.
If you don't agree with me turn on the tv, flip it to speed and see who wins races. The corvette c6r gives them a rumble their money and are fast as shit.Thanks.
Just a heads up: The fastest street cars in the world don't have German emblems on the hood, and it's not because people haven't tried.
Additionally: Mike, you do realize that it's easier to "drive" a car out of the hole with steep rear gears, as opposed to taller gears. Right?
