Keep the inlet air temps low and don't get too aggressive with the timing.Originally posted by 03trubluGT View PostWhat is the secret for putting boost to a high compression engine?
I was looking at the new 5.0 thinking it would not like a lot of boost.
E-85 helps as well.
These engines have oil squirters to keep the pistons cooler, which helps tremendously.
The rest is a bunch of voodoo shit that I'll be paying to have ironed out after the warranty has run it's course.

I believe the E85 is the real secret here. There are other guys with more boost and more problems running gasoline, and not going as fast.
And if you REALLY want to get tricky, you could conceivably use the variable valve timing to reduce cylinder pressure. I'm not sure how much control the tuner has over it though. I do know they have figured out how to use it to give a lumpy idle to a stock engine. When the government pays, the government controls.

They can back off valve timing same as ignition timing.Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostI believe the E85 is the real secret here. There are other guys with more boost and more problems running gasoline, and not going as fast.

I don't think E85 is a secret anymore! It is a very special fuel for sure...making just as much, if not more power than c16 in certain cases. Whipple/Kb setups gain more on E85 than other setups because of the cooling effects...but almost any FI setup will show good gains. We have made 1200+ rwhp on pump $2.xx E85 from Kroger.Originally posted by 46Tbird View PostI believe the E85 is the real secret here. .
One thing we have found, when making huge power on E85, you need massive fuel systems. Twin Weldon pumps for 1000+ rw setups, 3+ walbros with boost-a-pumps on 800rw street cars, ect. And don't forget about injectors....120pound injectors min for cars making any power, 220's for high hp.
