  • I feel that, even though there is a lot of love to the 'farm truck', there may be a nasty nasty 600+ CID hearse coming soon...

And a film permit with paid local PD doing traffic control, at least that's what I bet happens. It's still cars racing on the street but it's a TV show, it's just not possible to have that many people at the same place for an entire shoot without local police being involved. Not only that but if they didn't have police help you'd end up with 5,000 spectators lining both sides of the road.

Top Gear does the same thing but you can usually spot some of the squad cars.

      • Overall I like the show. I always look forward to the next episode. I'm glad it's on tv.

        • Looks like the Farm Truck got some suspension too. Some of the shots looked like non-factory upper control arms. Might have got some frame work done and lost some weight.

          • Have a friend that works for United Rentals. He was on call because he is the field mechanic when things go wrong with the Rentals. Well he got a call saying some of their generated light stations were having problems. Low an behold it was on the set of Street Outlaws about 12:00am in the North Ft worth area. He said it took him a bit to get in due to all the streets being closed down. Said there was close to 200 people out there from the production studio. After he got the lights back up and going, they said he could stay and watch. He said he was 15 yards from Daddy Dave when he launched. He said that thing was crazy fast. LOL

He said cops were every where and Ambulances were parked at the scene. While I truly hope the racing is real, the illegal part as everyone has know all along is not.

I don't know why everyone assumes that since the roads are blocked off and there is an extreme emergency personnel presence.....that the races are fake or "staged."

Common sense will simply tell you, that you can't have the production equipment like that, without any type of permit etc.

Some people just want to watch the world burn.

                • Yeah, I've never understood the bitching about the show.

If there were no lights, etc. - you'd just see two sets of red tail-lights going down a dark road and have no idea who won. Dumb.

Just enjoy it as it is and watch some bad-ass high-horsepower cars put it down on a normal road.

                    • As a 14-time NMCA/NMRA champion, Mike Murillo knows when racing is legit, and when it isn’t. The newly-minted reality star confirms the Oklahoma-based Midwest Street Cars’ TV action is the real deal, and the street racing is just as competitive, if not more so, than its drag strip counterpart. In late 2013, Murillo and Midwest […]
