The idea for the late model class is for street cars, something in the 6.5-8.0 second range. Ideally I was thinking the 2011 Mustangs, Camaros, etc. The North Star Street Class is completely seperate and more like a small tire class.
I am open to allowing the 88mm and removing the cap, but I guess we are going to end up with just another small tire class with cars running 5.1X to 5.5X. You think we could end up with 12-16 cars under those rules and looking at those ETs?

You should do whatever you think will bring the cars. I was more just talking shit about pulling the cap. My deal was that you would get more 88mm cars than an 85mm.Originally posted by NSNick View PostThe idea for the late model class is for street cars, something in the 6.5-8.0 second range. Regardless of what rules you impose, you are gauranteed that racers will find a way around them and a way to go faster.Originally posted by NSNick View PostThe idea for the late model class is for street cars, something in the 6.5-8.0 second range. With no pill limitations + unlimited CID's, and 88MM turbos and a 275 or 10.5" tire - you are also gauranteed to see some LOW 5's. There's no way (around here) you'll get a 5.50 class with those rules.
Having said all that, I like the rules!

Yeah, you will end up with low 5 second cars for sure.Originally posted by turbostang View PostRegardless of what rules you impose, you are gauranteed that racers will find a way around them and a way to go faster.

You could consider some jet restrictions and turbos over 76mm get a bigger weight penalty, big blocks over 510ci bigger weight penalty, something like that to keep it a little slower class.
check out the rules for Evil Street on hotrodgossip2.com, last year the class was going 5.60s with a 73 jet limit on 400 and bigger small blocks. This year they opened it to an 85 jet for all small blocks. I expect 5.40s-5.50s will be the competitive number this year in that class. But participation has been minimal. Only 4-6 cars that tried to make every race last year. And the pay was basically only entry fees plus maybe $100-$200 thrown into the pot.Carl S.
