The miata is a tank. We figured up that we are knocking on 15000 race mile's door in it, we had to do a clutch and trans (royal purple burns them up pretty quick, apparently) and a clutch master cyl. Other than brakes, that's it. We havent even pulled a plug to see if the spark plugs need to be changed. We occasionally change the oil.Originally posted by jyro View Post
The Fairmont likes have a fuel related issue and an electrical issue at each race, it seems. We replaced the tank with a new stock replacement, but now we have cumulatively spent ~4 hours in the pits during the race messing with the fuel system, we are going to drop the coin on a 22 gallon FIA cell. Some how the connector going to the main switch burned up, taking a few wires out too. It was pretty simple to fix it, but the rotors were so warped that after finding a bolt that backed out of another switch, I parked it for an hour and then went out and took the checker.
It's fast down the straights. We got a trophy, and a mention in the Car & Driver coverage, plus a little bird told me it would be featured in the Lemon's wrapup video they make after each race.
