Just wanted to report I finally got to sample Pecan Lodge's brisket and I have to say it's probably the best I've ever had. Freaking 90 minute wait...I was getting pissed. But then I ate the brisket and life was good.

I don't know how the hell they even ended up ranking so high year after year. You could go to Luby's and get about the same quality of brisket I had there. My bad on the recommendation. I read a review about it online and thought it was good.Originally posted by bcoop View PostHenry is going to ban you mother fuckers for talking shit about Longoria's. It does suck dick, though.

Right now my BBQ rankings for the area are
1 - Lockhart in Plano
2 - Big Daddys Roadhouse BBQ in Lavon
3 - Slow Bone in Dallas
4 - Fred's in Irving
5 - Sammy's BBQ in downtown or Mike Anderson's by ParklandI ate at Fred's a couple of months ago and wasn't to impressed with it. I hadn't been there in probably 15 years and it could be another 15 years before I go again and I won't miss it. Granted I didn't have the loaded potato but if the brisket sandwhich is any indication to what the potato is like, I would pass.Originally posted by 2165 Turbo Rail View PostThanks Matt. Now I want some Fred's loaded potato

For Brisket...
1. Pecan Lodge
2. Lockhart
3. Hutchins BBQ
4. who cares from this point down....
Living in Frisco I have to consciously make an effort to go try these places out. Again, not a fan of Slow Bone. I think they put way too much sage in their rub.

i dropped in lockhart (plano) last night. not as good as my first trip but still good.
the issue was my brisket wasn't the same at all. i asked for the same thing i always do: sliced, moist + bark, but this time i got little to no bark. it was moist but it was from the round, i prefer all my sliced brisket from the flat.
i did try a 1/4 pound of their beef shoulder and the prime rib. the shoulder is decent but i'll stick to the brisket. the prime rib was a solid performer, i could take that as a change up every now and then.www.hppmotorsports.com
