It should also be pointed out, that even if everyone on the board was for or against the Florida preacher, it would carry no relevance in this situation.

This situation involves service members violating protocol(having religious material delivered to them with the purpose of proselytization), and command determining that the violation(the religious material) was to be disposed of. So, they threw them in the trash. The policy is to burn all trash. So, they were burned with the rest of the refuse.

The situation with the Florida preacher was a man who was exercising his first amendment rights by burning a qur'an citing his religion as the reason. He was trying to make a demonstration to prove a point.

If someone opposed the preacher on the grounds of him offending people, that is completely different because that was his entire purpose. There is no evidence to support that the burning of the bibles was done for any other reason aside from the fact that they were in the trash.

No, not in this case. What is the military going to do with those bibles, store them indefinitely? They can't send them back because someone will draw the conclusion (albeit, wrong) that the bibles came from the military, they can't distribute them to soldiers that want them because they aren't printed in a language that very many, if any, can read, and they can't store them forever. It's best to just discard them and be done with it. They were discarded, and the rules said you burned all trash, so they were burned.
