Then you need to homeschool them. It's nothing more than what is already been done in the past. Hell my jr high school the lunch system you used debit style cards that parents could load money onto. The govt already knows what they want about your child as its in a govt public school. Give your kid cash to buy a dime bag or pack em a sack lunch.
I've seen kids in the area with highschool Ids around the neck with chips in them with students info.
A hacker can steal your child's info from the minute they are born. Just as easy as people do at ATMs, gas pumps, etc.
Damn bunch of aluminum foil hat wearing mofos.

It's information the government doesn't need access to, more information about your CHILDREN that a hacker can get into, see when your kid eats, what they eat and can swipe cash from the account.
It's also the nose under the tent. "It's only a palm scan." Then "It's only a chip in your kid to make sure we know where they are."

The govt already has access to your childs school info anyways, they do roll call every day. So now they scan a hand for a freaking lunch and parents freaking out. The ones throwing a fit are the ones that can probably afford to pay for school lunches yet signed up for the assistance for the free/pay like 50cents for a lunch instead paying the few dollar like every other kid has too.
Parents should be more worried about what the child is doing with that smart phone, on facebook, etc...Last edited by Redd; 10-07-2012, 08:50 PM.

I wouldnt care if they scan a hand. I seriously doubt that nothing more is tied to that scan but the childs info such as grade, maybe amount of funds on the childs lunch account. Doubt a SS# or criminal reccord is going to show up for 4th grade lunch
Its probably more secure than sticking your debit card in the gas pump and stabbing your pin number in.

Parents Upset Over Lunchtime Palm Scanner

Parents of students at Carroll County schools in Baltimore, Md., say a new policy that scans kids’ palms to pay for their lunches goes too far.
Photo: Barbara Haddock Taylor/Baltimore Sun/MCT via Getty ImagesWith the PalmSecure system, students hover their hands over an infrared scanner that ID’s them by the unique patterns in their skin and registers a sale, according to a report from the Daily Herald.
The Herald talked to Mike Richmond, who has two children at a Westminster elementary school. He said the scanning started before parents were given the chance to opt-out.
“I didn’t appreciate how they handled it. I’m concerned about it. I know it’s the way of the future, but it’s fingerprinting, it’s palm-printing.”
The district said the goal is to decrease the time it takes to pay for lunches since the children have a limited amount of time to eat their meals.
The controversial system is operating in three Carroll County elementary schools with plans to expand to the whole district within a year. It’s also used in many other schools around the country where there have also been concerns about invasion of privacy as well as the cost of the system. Once implemented, PalmSecure will run the Carroll County district about $300,000.
