We in fact do have a tax burden in this state, in the form of rather exorbitant property taxes. I can assure you that the amount of federal income tax we pay would not cover the military it would take to secure a Republic of Texas, especially since we would most likely immediately go to war with the rest of the United States. It's a bad idea, fiscally, but hey do what you want. I'll be the first among fence riders.

We've been on our own for almost 4 years. Without the idiot in chief, we could actually attempt something.

Here is another petition on that site. Kooks and mental cases. Any one can create a petition and there is no limit as to the number of times you can "sign" the said petition. Totally legit and realistic! Read some of them, its funny.

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
Invite Jacques Fresco of the venus project to the white house as a consultant on rebuilding a sustainable economy.
Jacques Fresco is a world renowned and respected futurist, scientist, engineer, and problem solver. He has created well thought out technologies and solutions to the economic issues that America faces. His ideas and solutions go beyond conventional thinking and political bickering. He has ideas to improve manufacturing, education, eliminate poverty, clean the environment, wean the country off fossils fuels, and the overall well being for all Americans.

Jacuques contribution of ideas and solutions to Americas problems can be a valuable resource to the Obama administration. Americas infrastructure is crumbling and we are dependent on foreign sources of energy. Jacques has scientifically sound solutions that we need to seriuosly consider to make America a sustainable, strong, & stable nation

Someone here should start one stating that " DFWStangs.net" has solved all the conflict created by re-electing our incumbent President. We don't know what it is yet, but we are aggressively bitching about it!

How would this even be a problem? There'd be no one to tell us we couldn't put a sniper post every 500 yards or so on the border....

There isn't enough precious metals in Texas (at a government level) to completely back a currency, but there are some heavy-holders in the private sector. Plus, we would have the oil backing our dollar. A REAL oil backing, not some fairytale agreement with those OPEC fuckers.

A competitive currency and commodity bartering system would suffice.

I see that both have the goal of 25k sigs .

What happens then ? Perhaps the WH by law has to form an offical response then and distribute it to the petitioner
