People will sometimes lie because they want something they wouldn't be able to get otherwise. The lying continues because the person craves the attention and thrill of getting away with it or in an attempt to manipulate the victim of the lies even further. Sometimes, they use "gas lighting," a technique where they convince others that their realities are incorrect and only the liar knows what "really happened."

My mom took me to a shrink when I was about 10 because I would hardly talk. After visiting with him for a few months he told my mom that I was the most brilliant child that he had ever met but I was a little bit strange. To this day she still teases me about him saying that. I suspect that both docs were right.Originally posted by matts5.0 View PostSo he knew then, what we know now.

I was very tickled by that statement. Unfortunately he passed away or I would still be friends with the man.

Compulsive lying disorder is not actually a documented psychiatric disorder. Instead, it's a term used to describe what may be a symptom of another psychiatric disorder such as borderline personality disorder, narcissism or bipolar disorder. Not all people who are compulsive liars suffer from a psychiatric illness, but there is usually an underlying reason for the behavior. According to Psychology Today, people with psychiatric disorders lie for a variety of reasons.

You're just as mental, Tweedle Dumb.Originally posted by Gasser64 View PostAccording to wiki, a pathological liar will likely stop lying for fear of being caught in another lie. If confronted with it, in front of a few people, multiple times. Maybe they're different types, but I need to try this on my brother inlaw. He could be SVO posting here, very easily.

The person may even continue to lie when presented with the truth in cold, hard facts. Getting a compulsive liar to admit he or she lied can be nearly impossible.
Then again I'm not a powerful psychic like a good many people here, so for all I know SVO's stories are true. I don't find it likely, but hey.

Two of my RX-7s were in magazines but they were model specific magazines sold in Japan. They did a feature on our shop.

No; I had not planned on selling it. An acquaintance made an offer for it and I told her that I wanted 5k over what was offered. They are considering it but I am pretty sure that they will go for it.

Do you have a for sale ad for the FD?Originally posted by svo855 View PostI used the screen name svo855 long before I owned any of the other cars that I mentioned and just stuck with it. I bought my 85.5 SVO in 93'. I still own all of the cars that I just mentioned but the FD may be sold in the next few days. Many people would consider even a stock Porsche to be pretty fast and that is why I brought it up. No bikes and I do not plan to buy any again, ever.
