Someone who's tired of people being disarmed for sake of feel good policies that do nothing for a persons safety and those responsible are never held responsible when atrocities such as this occur. IMO, if you're going to prevent people from being to protect themselves, taking away their Constitutional right, then that entity is now responsible for the people's safety.

what does that make you?Originally posted by GhostTX View Posthttp://nypost.com/2015/10/01/oregon-...uring-rampage/
Liberalism at it's finest. I hope a student sues the school for inadequate security while denying them the right to defend themselves.

Look up the Smith Mundt act of 2012...Originally posted by Baba Ganoush View PostSo how in the fuck, in this country, do we rein in the media?
We really are in a bad, bad spot here. Proliferation of ignorance and white guilt in social media, mainstream media inciting unrest and social tensions, and our leadership looking to deny our most fundamental freedoms in order to prevent the unpreventable.

A former president of the college said that it has only one unarmed security officer and that the community decided against armed guards last year. “I suspect this is going to start a discussion across the country about how community colleges prepare themselves for events like this,” Joe Olson told CBS.
A gunman singled out Christians, telling them they would see God in “one second,” during a rampage at an Oregon college Thursday that left at least nine innocent people dead and several more wounde…

No argument there.Originally posted by Baron Von Crowder View PostI cant stand the press and media. They are more interested in this country burning to the ground so that they have something to report on than they are with factual reporting anymore.
And seeing as we are already talking about it, the press is directly responsible for the racial tensions, spree killings, "clock building" kids, etc that they glorify rather than vilify.

I agree, neither of which will happen. But if the government is dead set on making/changing laws, one would work while the other would be an exercise in futility.Originally posted by SS Junk View PostAnd therein lies the problem. You put limitations on the first amendment then you will have to compromise with those who want control over the second.
Dont take that the wrong way, the statement was intended to give lawmakers who want to legislate something an option that actually has a chance of doing something.Originally posted by bcoop View PostI disagree with that. It doesn't need to be illegal, because you're then censoring the press, etc. The press should have enough fucking common sense to take those actions on their own, rather than being forced. Unfortunately, that doesn't sell ad time, so they're not going to stop doing anything on their own.

The media in this country is a boil on the ass of society. They create the news, instead of just reporting it as-is. Journalist ethics belongs to a bygone era. Everything you read is heavily editorialized and injected with bias.Last edited by LS1Goat; 10-02-2015, 11:26 AM.

OK maybe not pass a law, but it would be awesome if it was more of an unwritten law.Originally posted by SS Junk View PostAnd therein lies the problem. You put limitations on the first amendment then you will have to compromise with those who want control over the second.

They want to be known, and the media eats it up every time one of them do what they do. Another gun control law wont keep that from happening.
Want to stop it (or at least slow it way the fuck down)? Make it law for the news to not be able to report a shooter's name or show their picture. Take away the incentive.

I am going to laugh my ass off if it comes out that he used the 10/22 that he posed with in a selfie to shoot up the school.
