I have no idea. You still have to go thru an academy program It's just way shorter and more laid back. More FWPD/City stuff than anything else.

How long is the academy?

We will see once we receive the scores. I didn't study at all for this, busy with my shop and my 7-4 job as well..I heard they only need 40 people and over 1k applied. Damn!!

5 months just about. 8 - 5 Monday - Friday.

They need more than that 40 is all that is in an academy class. They are hoping for 3 full classes for next year.

I probably should of fucking tested. But I didn't see this post till it was too late. I tested against 4000 for the FWFD and AFD last year... made an 85, and 88... didn't make the cut :bBishope:

Well I'm not too optimistic but ready to leave the sheriffs dept and fwpd is a good place from everyone I've talked to. I was surprised more people didn't show. I figured 12-1500 is all that tested maybe even less.

Damnit dude... and yeah FTW is awesome. Very good pay, and for the most part good people. But it DOES have it's really shitty areas just like Dallas.

Its cool man, Just study next time. That's what im gonna do if I dont pass. Ill study next time for sure...and retake it again..

Yes you get paid while you're at the academy, it's either $36k or $38k at the academy and then $50K or $52k your first couple years out.

Physical Ability Test seems daunting

I am an out of towner that did the PAT test today. We were told that they are going to take the top 250 and call them in early Sept. They hope to fill the March class with those. There will be a class in March, July, and Oct. They want 40-45 per class. He said they had about 1200 show up for the test and usually have 400-500 fail the written part. Last year it took 800 applicants to fill 3 classes with just 20-25 per class. He said that if you passed the test this year, you have a good chance of getting a call eventually. There might not even be enough that passed to fill the spots. He also mentioned that the chief is going to try and add 500+ positions over the next 5 years. If he gets that then Fort Worth seems like the place to apply for if you are looking for a job....
