      Sooo.....

Good times today. We rode out from Garland and headed up 635 to 35 South. There weren't that many good riders there, probably only 6-10 people stunting and maybe only 80-100 total. Pretty weak turnout (I think a lot of folks were scared). I was on the DRZ and rolling some damn decent highway stoppies and a couple of 4th gear wheelies. Nothing special, I'm far from a "stunter" these days. Everything was cool, and then we saw our first cop right before the Loop 12 split. I was up front and everyone else hit their brakes when they saw this cop pull over and wait on the group. I said fuck it and rode right past him, then pulled over right at the Loop 12 split. I looked up and saw a helicopter, and that was my cue to cut over to 114 and take it back to the house. I was curious to see how things would go down, but not interested in going to jail over it.

I've since heard that cops swarmed the highway and split the group up. One DPD car wrecked into the wall chasing bikes and another hit a road sign. I haven't heard of anyone having been arrested yet, but we'll see. If they don't arrest anyone, I doubt the news will cover it. If they do, it'll be "Breaking News".

No ambulences were prevented from getting to hospitals, and while I'm sure some people were upset that their trip was 8-10min delayed, no one got hurt and we had a fun ride.

Just because they aren't in an ambulance doesn't mean it isn't an emergency, FYI.

just after you took off that same cop floored it and swerved at the yellow gsxr, nearly pinning him to the wall. at regal row there were 4-6 cops trying to divert riders to 75 where the other 10 cop cars were.

2 helicopters, countless police man-hours, one totaled police car and another damaged.

All that and they only got two trumped arrest charges(one guy already out with the police's apologies).

No, no, no the po-po are mowing those bikers down.

I think this event they do/try to do would be bad ass if they did it on a private lot or airfield.

Kind of funny how with a little pressure they crack though, I thought this was for their old friend. I should not antagonize though, since it's all around better for everyone (even the riders) if that does not happen on public roads.

At the end of the day, I'm happy to hear it was broken up and no one was hurt.

Dallas police are on high alert, looking for stunt bikers causing problems on local expressways.

Fox 4's Emily Lopez with more on what police are doing to keep this from happening again.

Dallas police do not want a repeat of last Memorial Day, when bikers brought traffic to a standstill on 75, this year police decided to be proactive.

Officers used air-one, the police department's chopper to keep an eye on things from the air. They also have extra patrols out on the streets and on central expressway.

Police stopped short of discussing the tactics they'd be using, so they wouldn't tip off any bikers.

Last year bikers shut down central expressway on Memorial Day. The motorcycle meet up drew an estimated 75 motorcyclists. The bikers blocked traffic for several minutes while they performed stunts, and spray painted messages to remember two bikers who died the year before.

The You Tube video provided key pieces of evidence for police after officers were unable to stop the rally. Officers responded but the chase policy restricts chasing for non violent crimes

i just don't get this. i think its great you want to have some kind of tribute for your friends who died doing what they love but this isn't a good way. you have a year to plan something on private property and stay off the streets. this is why i got rid of my sport bike. i didn't want to get lumped in with people who act retarded on the streets.

If it were on a runway or closed off area, I wouldn't attend. The risk and thrill of doing it on public roadways, in the face of the cops and their threats, is what makes it fun for me. I know most won't like that answer, but I'm being honest. I've ridden streets with police escorts before, almost in a parade setting, and it was boring.

And, to confirm what others said above, I didn't really know either of these two guys. I don't attend any of these types of rides for any other reason than to have fun, raise my pulse a few beats and ride with my buddies.

Lastly, I don't agree that stunter's riding habits have a real, sincere impact on sportbike riders that simply follow the laws. It does occassionally happen where you'll get pulled over and get the 3rd degree from some Ahole cop just cause you were on a sportbike, but more often than not, you're guilty of something else (usually haulin ass) and then they think you're like the rest of the riders out there that break the law (and you are, just in a different way). Stunters represent far less than 1% of the riders out there, yet the vocal 99% think that they're being represented by these riders. Most every time a cop sees a sportbike, they're just cruising down the road like everyone else. It's the rare exception that they're going Mach 3, and even more rare to see people stunting. Think about how many motorcycles you'll see today, and then think about how many of them you'll see doing wheelies. And STILL people think that they're being judged because of this event that has only happened 3 times in DFW...ever. Now if you're riding a streetfighter'd f4i with no headlight, round bar and a cage and you get upset for being stereotyped a stunter, then you're just retarded.

I may put a rough vid together from my GoPro footage...just don't have the motivation to go through the little footage I did get right now.

All of us can relate with this sort of attitude from younger days, but even you said once you saw the helo you got out of dodge. Seems like you missed out on a lot of fun.

Yeah, I'm 35yrs old and feel like I know where to draw my own personal line in the sand when it comes to putting myself in a position to get arrested. I like to think of myself as older and wiser, but I still like to digress from time-to-time and have fun. If this shit bothers some, you guys would have hated me in the mid 90's, when we reeeally rode dangerously on shitbox bikes and ran from the cops almost nightly back in Akron, OH. 5-6 guys weaving in and out of traffic, splitting lanes in 100mph++ wheelies is a lot more dangerous, and I can tell you caused a lot more wrecks, than these group rides do. These just seem to agitate more people.

I was on the yellow FZ6R, a bunch of us exited regal and continued our ride.
