I worked at a little hot rod shop and we had a '59 El Camino that I worked on pretty much the entire time I worked there.Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostI agree, I might be able to use it as a parts car. I've been told finding trim on these is impossible, you have to have people make it for you. for the right price it might be worth it. I've been told if it's missing a piece of trim, pass on it. And I see it's missing some trim.
I spent a lot of time on that car. We took sheet metal and broke it and welded it down the far outside edge of the fins, where the stainless trim would have been, and made the fins come out further, and to a point. Similar to the '59 Impala that Bill Hines built years ago. It looked pretty bad ass.

Just a suggestion.

I prefer the Electras, as the extra 3" or so of wheelbase makes them that much longer and leaner. IMO
I don't mind the '60s. In some ways they are better actually, but you're right, the '59 canted headlights are the shit. And the 4dr hardtops have a crazy kickass roofline that is second only to the coupes.
Buy THE BEST ONE you can afford. Period. You don't want to hunt for parts, they are nearly impossible to find.

Because you never come to the Roundup. You're always at Quakeconn.Originally posted by 5.0_CJ View PostThat's crazy. I have honestly never set eyes on one, I'd love to see one in person - I think that would seal the deal. Apparently they have one of the coolest dashes/clusters out there. I have not seen one myself. I plan on going down to the roundup next time, so hopefully It won't disappoint.

Oh and, the fins are one of my favorite things about that car !!Originally posted by mstng86 View PostI like it. Especially the front grill, how the lights are set, bumper and the front fins. I have never seen one before. I don't care for the huge fins on the back tough. Cool car for sure.
