Video: passing emergency vehicle citation BS

At :02 look at the blue VW. Now watch at :51 and there is the blue vw again. Dude you were hauling ass, after you got past him at least. Should have jailed you for reckless driving and gave you a ticket for the stationary emergency vehicle and passing in the right lane. I donno where the judge is that you are going to try and fight this, but I know the judge where I work would laugh at you. No offense of course.

Where on the video was reckless driving besides the DPS trooper? I accelerated back up to the speed limit and took my normal exit at Beltline. You can see my car entering the toll booth towards the end of the video.

It doesn't matter at all anyway since my citation allegedly happened within the first 5 seconds of the video when "I blew past him". <--- those were the troopers words when he pulled me over.

You know the statute is EITHER reduce your speed by 20mph or more or vacate adjacent lane. Trust me, I was going under 50mph which is why I was in 2nd gear to get back up to speed. Traffic was running quite slow and he didn't radar me anyway. I tried to get over, but couldn't.

Also, on the lane vacate what about the other cars he nearly hits when he was pulling out to chase me down?

I was at the red light at Luna right after the video cut. I didn't want my license plate posted. He did turn on his siren though for about 4 seconds after he slammed on his brakes right behind me nearly hitting the back of my car.

I wouldn't have written you for vacate lane unless I radared you. I would have gotten you for the passing on the right once you slam on the gas after you pass though.

At least he was in the left most portion of the lane and he had his blinker on. I did not see a place for him to go, so in my book that's a pass since he tried.

But, for the letter of the law, he violated the statute on the fail to vacate lane portion. Unless he had him on radar, there's no way to determine his speed.

Where is the rest of the video? It stops before the trooper catches you....

It amazes me to see what cops will do to catch up to some. I have seen them hop curves, clean out ditches, cut off other cars, ect just for a simple BS ticket.....I saw nothing done wrong....the car that passes right after did not even attempt to get over or does not look to be going any slower...

I'd say his driving to catch you was more of a threat to safety then your failed attempt to get out of that lane. Then again, I'm not a cop and I don't know how I'd feel about it if I were constantly having to get out of my car on the side of the highway with people not vacating the lane.

Okay, here is the background. Heavy, slow rush hour traffic plus onlooker slowdown on George Bush. I'm in right lane and see DPS vehicle ahead on shoulder. I am well aware of the law that you EITHER need to slow down at least 20mph below the speed limit or move to adjacent lane.

So, as I get closer to DPS vehicle, I attempt to move over, but am unable due to a guy blocking me and heavy traffic. Video clearly shows two tires in the other lane and turn signal. Also, shows me going 50mph or under. You can see how slow the traffic is going.

My big mistake is getting back on the gas immediately after I pass the DPS trooper and the car that had pulled over. That attracted his attention and he decided to chase me down and teach me a lesson. He caught up with me on Beltline where video ended.

He writes me up for passing stationary emergency vehicle and no front plate. I plan to fight both of them as maybe I was stupid for getting back on the gas earlier than I should have, but that isn't a citable offense.
