haha. He's using math and a stopwatch. Even if the stopwatch is almost 100% slow, I'm still under 50mph.

I talked to Mr. Scott for about 15 minutes. He's going to represent me and try to get them both dismissed. I'm sure it'll be a few months before he even gets to meet with the prosecutor. If he can't get it worked out with the prosecutor, then we will try it in court. Yes, it will cost me some money, but I am fighting this one on principle.

No, that is directed to the OP. The arguement that the dps officer was reckless driving is irrelevant. He had his lights on, he cannot control what idiots do and don't do (in this case people would not get out of his way, which is the law). It is clear to me, and everyone else in here that the op drove like hell either in a hurry or to get away. (He even stated he got on it because the other car wouldn't let him over and he was peeved that the dps officer had the audacity to do his job and pull someone over during rush hour) Judging by the little bit of video, you can tell the OP was weaving in and out of traffic/ passing vehicles on the right side. He was way past cars that were infront of him.

Traffic was going 27 MPH at the point of the officer's video and I saw a lot of those cars in the lane to the left when they passed the officer. They were likely getting into the open lane to get out from behind the rubber neckers. This creates a rolling road block for the officer which gives the Vette more time to put a gap on him at a respectable speed.

I can also say that the officer only got up to 60 MPH at his fastest, slowed down to 50 MPH on the bridge, went around a group of cars that were still traveling at a slow rate, yet he caught him on the off ramp.

No reckless driving for the Vette needed as there was a considerable amount of time when the officer couldn't even get into traffic.

Furthermore the stripes are at least 10 feet, and maybe 12 feet. May I present Exhibit A, an aerial view of the tollway. As you can see, it is very difficult to fit 5 stripes inside the marked 50' legend.

However, given that traffic was roughly 27 MPH and the gap in between cars wasn't quite sufficient enough to comfortably fit into, along with the lack of brake lights on this Corvette, I would say he couldn't have been going any faster than 30.

Furthermore, the stripes are clearly not 10 ft. long, in relation to other cars and it appears that the space in between is just a couple feet longer than the white truck seen in the video as the officer pulls out onto the roadway. We are looking at a distance of much less than 40ft, completely negating the possibility that he was speeding.

This concludes my defense, your honor. My client was clearly paying attention to the law as it is written.

I know for a fact I was going significantly slower than 50mph and it seems the math above proves that. I was going so slow that I was in 2nd gear when I started accelerating again. Admittedly, that was a lower gear than I needed to be in, but again I was frustrated the Pathfinder wasn't letting me in and in full disclosure I was also frustrated a bit with the trooper slowing down rush hour traffic pulling a car over on the narrow part of George Bush.

So, I let my lack of patience get the best of me that when I passed the trooper I got back on the gas a little aggressively and he heard me and decided to chase me down to punish me. My bad, but I will be fighting the citations. Speaking of which, didn't hear from RS today, so I will put another call into his office right now.

Further, no one is seriously going to spend that much time and money to go back and review video footage from NTTA to collect a few hundred bucks. The ticket was BS. There was a lot of funny shit in this thread that I was going to quote, but this is by far the funniest. You are going to pay RS a small ransom to TRY and get out of paying a ticket, I have news for you Jr., pay the fine because you aint gonna win.
And even if you do it is going to cost far more than the fine and unless you have tickets on your record right now, just plead no contest and get it deferred. You might have not been speeding when you went by, but you got on it and it looks like you never got off of it and thats why it took so long for him to finally catch you. And lets not forget, the state dogs have access to the NTTA video cameras that are every 1/4 mile, they will have you hauling ass on video and the judge may come down even harder on you, save your money.
