Lol, in this case you are right. Had to hack out 80% of the metal along the bottom of the glass. I freely admit that I was out of my league on this job, but considering the circumstances, I think I did OK. Vinyl top should cover a lot.

Yeah, just ordered a new vinyl top from them. Going to try and install it myself.

I think I got all of the rust around the top. Praying that I dd anyway, if I didn't I at least bought some time. Got everything patched and in primer, I know it's not 100% smooth, but the new vinyl should cover it up fine. I test fitted my old top and nothing showed through it.

Thanks for the info, at least I know who to call now, they don't seem to be popular anymore lol.

I thought they were available in fastback Mustangs in 1969 in a ultra rare "supercobrajet" package? I remember seeing one, it was that stupid chevy orange and had dog dish hub caps, it was a total sleeper.

That whole piece is pretty rusted and it doesn't help that someones "Fix" was to slap bondo on it and put a new vinyl top on. Going to have to pull the back glass out tomorrow and see how bad the damage is.

On the topic of vinyl tops, anyone local that can install one?

I would love to have an old project like that, and the space and tools to do "hack job" welding myself. It beats being one of the plethora of check-book racers out there, and earns more respect for the owner than just shipping the car off to Chip Foose or the like. Not everybody has Turbostang's experience behind them, you've got to start somewhere.

Yes, you're being as ass Henry.

Had a post up for a bit that addressed that...

It did a little better than I was expecting, I figured 16.8-17.3 . A lot of problem is the gearing and the 3 speed. I was against a newer Charger RT with exhaust for sure. He ran a 14.2@100

At the 1/8th he was 9.352 and I was 10.72.
