    Not trying to be a smart ass, but I didn't see any plug welds to the frame extensions so it didn't look like it was done. The best way to do it is get some self tapping screws and sinch them together and drill about 10 5/16 holes on both sides of each rail and plug weld it to make it secure. Looks good for your first set of pans.

    I have to put new floor pans in my '71 Mustang, mine are nasty.

    I really love the look of your Cougar, something about that dusty hood and chrome in those pics just looks bad-ass.

    I will go back and do the fronts, I did it on the very back of the frame rail, under the seat land.

    Took it on a bumpy road tonight. Strut rod bushings seem like a safe bet from all the rattling I heard. The front end is next on my hit list.
    You may go back and reweld them to the front frame rails. There doesnt seem to be penetration through the metal. There should be some bubbling paint or something when it burns in the metal. Another option is to drill a small hole through one layer and plug weld it.

    It's not a tough job (or too expensive), but it sure will make the car ride nice.

The engine is healthy, but the third gear is MIA on the transmission. Walks the floor a bit, I am sure it needs new bushings on the front end.

    Ok, floor pans are in. Keep in mind that this is literally the first welding project I have ever done.
