I hate to stir this shit pot more, but I'll try to explain how it works in actual reality rather than some smokey yunick trick engine.

We are talking About 500 bucks running and driving. So we don't have budgetary cash for a trip to the machine shop. So you take your average wrecked, high mile beater and strip it, cut the springs and get your saftey equipment tires and brakes handled. Therein lies the spirit of lemons : to put a $500 car together and in a safe manor, beat the everloving shit out of it for 1500 miles in a weekend. There are cars that do it without breathing heavy. Many others tend to do well for a bit, but most have engine or trans related failure at some point or another.

Now there are folks that go out to win an event that doesn't pay out enough to cover entry fees, and dump loads of cash into built engines, etc.

We haven't even pulled a valve cover on this engine or on our miata.

Ours really isa freak, some of the other teams have had them come apart or at least had to do some freshening. One of the up sides to keeping it stock I guess, we dont need to
