As I posted in my starter thread. I made a hybrid from the old starter and new one. basically just sourcing the brushes and magnets from the new starter. It worked like a charm. So now I have a free'd up engine and a operational starter. Its time to add new sparkplugs, wires and a fresh carb and see if we can get this old rust bucket to fire up.

i want to get it running with the current setup so I can troubleshoot problems with other areas on the truck like brakes, clutch, suspension, electrical. before I go and tear it all apart for an expensive engine swapOriginally posted by CJ View Posthmmm...2004 TR Mustang Mach 1 RIP

2. A vehicle towing a unit with a manufacturer's GVWR of more than 10,000 lbs. when the GCWR exceeds 26,000 lbs.
I believe this could be the one that would get you. If the truck has a GVW of 10,000 pounds and you are pulling a trailer that has a GVW of 16,100 pounds then you have a GCVW of 26,100 pounds thereby requiring a CDL by law.
I only bring this up because we have had customers that were pulled over and given citations for not having a CDL. They were driving a 1 ton dually pulling a large, empty gooseneck trailer. Even though the combo was nowhere near being over weight, the combined GVW of both put the guy in a CDL required weight capacity.
You'll have to have a DOT guy that just wants to bust your balls for this to happen. I'm just recommending you check all the laws and cover your ass.

Holy crap. That's flat out ridiculous. Everyone one of my buddies that own a 3/4 or 1 ton truck haul combined GVW that exceed that limit all of the time. I guess that's what you get for getting farm work done...Originally posted by shumpertdavid View Post

True story, I see the dps busting hot shot drivers with pickups and trailers every day. Its like free money for them. You dont want to get your cdl if you dont have to, with it you play by a whole set of new laws. Like if you blow more than.04 no driving any thing for you but a bike for a long time. The point system sucks also. They will go back and put points on your cdl for any tickets you have recived in the past. You will have to carry a med card also.Originally posted by shumpertdavid View Post2. A vehicle towing a unit with a manufacturer's GVWR of more than 10,000 lbs. when the GCWR exceeds 26,000 lbs.

I see the dot pulling guys over all the time, they bust them for unsafe load securment, a light out. then the bust out the portable scales from the trunk. Over weight ticket can cost any where from .10 to 1.00 a pound. One of Texas favs is the load range of the tire, for the load on the truck. $$$Originally posted by crapstang View PostHoly crap. best not to get caught pulling anything other than farm equipment for farm use then. They get really uppidy about pulling a travel trailer or a car hauler with anything but a tractor on it.Originally posted by MGannaway View PostI live in the country and I had a goat and plan to get more. does that count?"If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford
