[QUOTE=racrguy;1408174]The sign says speed limit, the law says reasonable and prudent. Therefore if traffic is moving at X speed, it's more often than not reasonable and prudent to move with the flow of traffic.[QUOTE]

This. Some cities will not even let their officers write for 10 or under.

while not as svelte as your V, my reg cab truck is 575ish to the wheels. I drove it up for Thanksgiving and again for this trip specifically for this reason! LOL

Meaning that is as fast as you are allowed to go, not well I got passed 10 times and they were all doing about 10 over so, It is OK if I do too.

    Try that in court
Again, they told us this in driving school. If the driving school teachers get a ticket, they are out of a job. Obviously this doesn't go over well if the left lane only in cruising fast, but if three lanes of traffic are doing 75 in a 65, no cop is going to ticket you for pacing them.

I'm not scared of getting a ticket, but if you are, just get in the right lane and stay there. Easy enough
We have a winner. It isn't about it being easy, it's about the left lane campers thinking they know whats best for everyone else.

The speed limit is supposed to be set by using the average speed of drivers on a given road in good weather. If you are getting passed by 90% of people on a road and are going the speed limit, most likely the limit is set too low. If you want a good example of this, take 114 from 161 to DFW Airport, it has a 60 mph limit and you will most likely get ass ended and killed if you do 60 mph.

That being said, I drive 65 on the highways for fuel economy, regardless of a higher speed limit. 1-2mpg drop off at 70-75 isn't worth the trade off in fuel economy, and I have better than average driving skills.

Every time I have ever been pulled over on a freeway, I have gotten off with a warning. At least 4 times I can think of off the top of my head. It's really simple. If you're going slow, or not passing someone, stay the hell out of the left goddamn lane. This shit in the bane of my road trips. People have no common courtesy. It is much better out in the West than around here, though. Don't even get me started on the dumbfucks in Louisiana.

This. I am far from a professional driver, but I am constantly checking my mirrors, my surroundings, and watching for faster traffic so I can vacate as soon as it is safe so that they don't have to swerve around me.

Those that I typically see camping or driving slower than everyone around them look TERRIFIED as I pass. White knuckle about to shit themselves because they are travelling at warp speed. Or they are travelling 90, phone goes off, and in an instant they are do 60. Finish the text, back to 90, etc. I have even seen a few reading their effing ipad or a novel travelling down the interstate.

Day one in driving school, go with the flow of traffic, if people on 635 are doing 80mph, you pose more of a danger doing the speed limit.

If you want to do the limit, get in the right lane, it's not that difficult of a concept. Why bother to be in the fast lane if you're doing the speed limit?

The state of TX says if I drive less than 10% over the limit, there is zero impact on the status of my license.

I can be cited for it (though I most likely won't), but I can be cited for it 10 times a day and it doesn't effect my license.

There are signs everywhere saying "left lane for passing only". It's, unfortunately, an unenforced law. More importantly, it's uncommon fucking courtesy. The reason people speed up when you try to pass them on the right is because they're embarrassed that you caught them being a brain dead inconsiderate fuck.

My road rage has cooled as I get older. I understand that some people drive slow. I understand that some people drive slow cars that can't accelerate quick enough to make certain gaps in traffic, etc. Again, I've cooled out on a lot.

But if you're in a 75mph zone and you're going BELOW THE LIMIT, get your fucking ass in the right lane!

(this is not directed at you FWIW)

Sorry, don't see it ..In Texas if the Speed limit was a 100, you guys would go 105

Few, if any ..really should drive +1 over limit in the metro ..

For most , the skill level does not match the ego and the bank account

Yes, they're in the wrong. If you want to go the speed limit, then move your happy ass over to the lane that's doing the speed limit. Since 98% of drivers wish to go above the speed limit, someone going the speed limit is far more dangerous than the speeders.

As for going faster than the speed limit, no matter what, not true in my case. I took a road trip out to west texas in my 96 gt convertible. It's pretty much 80mph once you're out of the metroplex. With a passenger and a fucking shit lot of scuba equipment in the trunk, the car was a little sketchy above the limit, so I slowed down, in the FUCKING SLOW LANE.
