You have to lift heavier if you want to get stronger, adding reps to 225 isn't gong to get it.

Do the same for lower and upper chest as well.

Hmm, I'll try that next time. Mondays are usually chest days so I'll give that a shot. And yes, I still have my spotter

Monday night I put up 275 twice all by myself. Last time my brother had to tap the bar once on my second rep. My first set of 225 I put up 8 times, that's the most I've gotten 225 up to date.

    Slow progress, baby, slow progress

This is the important thing, and as you slowly work on what foods you habitually choose, you'll lose weight without trying, or even needing that much cardio. One of my best friends has stayed lean and "happy" over the years simply by always making good choices. Even in my own experience making those little changes are great for long-term losses, as long as you aren't looking to drop 10lbs a month.

If it weren't for having those old good eating habits swimming in the back of my head, I guarantee that I'd be a lot heavier today.

Conversely, my pants are getting tight lately, and after a big meal I feel like a slob. It's time to pare back the fatty high-calorie foods and overall calorie consumption, but not to the point that I can't enjoy a good meal in South Lake Tahoe this weekend.

For you, cutting the booze looks to be the easiest way to start that whittling away of unnecessary consumption, 'cause for me at least, I always ate more when I drank.

It's the same with me. Grew up not being able to add any weight until I was 22. And my thinking is still I can eat whatever I want and be ok, but deep down I know that's not true. I know what's good for me and what's not, i'm not counting calories anymore. I still eat what I want but when I eat the bad stuff I just try not to eat as much.

My big problem is eating too much for dinner and snacking on crap. I've cut a lot of the bad snacking out and i'm starting to get better about not eating too much at night. So, that's a start

That's only if you are getting that 500 calorie deficit, if it's less, you can blow a week in a single bad snack.

Even when taking it easy, drinking can sneak up on you too, 'cause that's usually in addition to whatever you eat. Not to mention the dip in natural test production. I'm not preaching by any means, just pointing out the obvious hurdles to losing weight that people don't care to consider.

I totally missed your posts about vacation, I too ate like a horse when mom was here, and again in Mexico. I blame the gf for me getting complacent, funny how motivation goes to the wayside when your woman doesn't care about abs.

At 235lbs I'm the biggest I've ever been, yet I'm also the most contented for various reasons, which is the main reason why it's been tough getting back on the diet. I've got a year sober on Sunday, which is helping motivate me again, and my woman is back in the gym herself, so I don't want her getting in badass shape and leaving my tubby butt... lol

Time to get my mind off of strength, and do that cardio, which is easier said than done.

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!! Only been on the treadmill for 4min so far and that was because I was waiting on my brother to get to the gym lol

My gf loves the way I look ( I don't, I have a goal in my head and i'm not anywhere close yet) and is afraid i'm going to leave her if I meet that goal. Which I tell her is crazy to think like that.

One thing I need to start doing is stop eating like shit on the weekends. Especially when i'm in Dallas visiting her. During the week i'm good to great on my diet

And congrats man on your year long of sobriety, I bet that's not easy. I drink, but it's only on the weekends and even then I usually don't go overboard with it.
